Data Deletion
1. Meta Data Deletion Request callback
When a person asks Meta to delete their data, Meta sends a deletion request to the callback URL we registered: https://app.convoup.com/api/whatsapp/data-deletion. We verify the request signature, identify the Convoup account that was connected by that person, and disconnect that account’s WhatsApp Business Account — permanently deleting all WhatsApp-derived data (contacts, conversations, messages, templates, automations, broadcasts, and mirrored media) and detaching the webhook subscription at Meta. This is scoped to data obtained through Meta’s platform, as Meta’s policy requires; it does not close the underlying Convoup account. We then return a public status URL and a confirmation code, as Meta requires.
2. Account-owner disconnection
Account owners can disconnect WhatsApp at any time from Settings → “Disconnect WhatsApp” (or via the in-product export and delete endpoints). This detaches the WhatsApp Business Account webhook subscription at Meta; permanently removes all WhatsApp-derived data (contacts, conversations, messages, deals, broadcasts, templates, automations, AI configuration); and removes mirrored media stored in our file storage. Your Convoup account, login, and billing subscription are not affected — you can keep using Convoup and reconnect WhatsApp at any time via Embedded Signup, starting from a fresh workspace. The erased history does not come back.
3. Closing your Convoup account entirely
If you want your Convoup account and login removed as well — not just your WhatsApp data — contact [email protected] and we will process that request manually.
4. What we keep
We retain only the minimum records required by law (for example, billing invoices for tax purposes) for the statutory period, and aggregated, non-identifying analytics. Message content and contact data are not retained after a WhatsApp disconnection.
